...except udderly poor cow humor!
El Lamo Bloggo - hey, the Cinco de Mayo celebrations have leaked into today's blog post - and considering I don't know any Spanish except for "Dos cervezas, por favor?"!
I considered talking about the weather (universal subject and all), but yesterday the rain poured all day making the house dark and dreary. They're forcasting some sun for this afternoon and then into the weekend, so fingers crossed. How's the weather in your neck of the woods, People of Blogland?
Then there's always books. I'm reading Elizabeth Chadwick's A Wild Hunt - a medieval romance that I'm enjoying greatly. I have Suzanne Brockmann's latest, Breaking the Rules, waiting for me at the library (picking it up today, so I don't expect to get much done once I get my nose in that book - love, love, love Suzanne Brockmann). What's on your reading agenda for the weekend, People of Blogland?
Busy week with the Royal Wedding, the Canadian Election, and the news of Osama bin Laden's death! This is not a politcal forum, nor do I want to start a discussion that could get heated, so I'll ask you if you watched Dancing with the Stars, The Biggest Loser or American Idol this week. And really, is there anything more important than those reality shows? There's big buzz about The Voice, but I refuse to start watching another TV show!
Have a great weekend - hopefully I'll generate some decent blogging topics over the weekend!

Love Biggest Loser and this was makeover week, so I couldn't miss it. I was totally shocked at Hannah's transformation. I think she looked better with dark hair, but that's me. Olivia looked awesome and I'm so glad I finally got to hear her sing.
ReplyDeleteI did watch The Voice and am thinking about a blog post relating it to writing, but we'll see if that ever comes to fruition. Needless to say, there were some really good singers on there and a few stinkers. (But then again, I think Aguillera is a stinker, so I'm not surprised.) I really like the lead singer for Maroon 5. I thought he'd be enough reason to watch, but alas... he's not.
Weather here in eastern Colorado: dry with below freezing at night and mid to upper 60s for the highs. ;o)
Hey, those were all worthy topics. The weather here is improved, sun for the first time in days. I'm planning on some yard work today. Getting a load of mulch delivered tomorrow, so I need to get the flower beds ready.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of the shows you mentioned, not even DWTS. Gasp! I know! I'm going through a Maks withdrawal, but...well, I have no idea why I haven't watched this season.
The Royal wedding was the best!
All this gloating and chest-thumping over Bin Laden's death makes me sick.
I have no book to read. So I'm re-reading a few craft books.
Have a lovely weekend!!
We've been having pretty good weather - looking forward to getting the camper van out - maybe next weekend!
ReplyDeleteOnly reality show I still watch is Survivor - and I'm ready to give that one up. I like my television (and my reading material) to be 100% fiction!
Re-reading Jane Eyre right now - the movie was so awesome!
Hope you enjoy the novel and have a great weekend.
I hate blogger! Man...I had such a wonderful comment. And then blogger said it couldn't complete the action. Grrrrrr.
ReplyDeleteShort version. DWTS, yes. American's Next Top Model (on DVR so I can zip forward to the photo shoots), checked out The Voice, not sure I'll stick with it. Jury's still out.
Reading: Emma Bull's WAR FOR THE OAKS. This is an AMAZING book! I'll be blogging about it next week. Makes me wish it wasn't from the library so I could use a highlighter. Once I have book budget again, it's first up to buy so I *CAN* highlight in it.
Happy Friday. I'm crawling back under my rock now. And *Pbthhhh* to Blogger! (And yes, I copied this version, JUST IN CASE!)
Did you hear that there is going to be Extreme Makeover weight loss edition? Yep pretty sure I will be glued on that one to. I am totally reality t.v junkie and am now getting my youngest hooked.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here has been alright, not as warm as I would like. But not complaining at least it isn't -40.
I am off to Riverdance this weekend in Saskatoon. I am so excited I could break out in dance today at work. Don't think Linda would appriciate that however. LOL
Have a great weekend ans I am sure I will be talking to you some time today :)
Hi Janet,
ReplyDeleteI have been watching DWTS and I saw some of The Voice. It wasn't bad. I'm curious to see how the rest of the season goes.
As far as reading this weekend, I doubt it. If the weather's good I'll be working in the garden, washing windows etc. If it's crappy I'll be writing. I'm working diligently on my war brides story!
Have a great weekend,
Jana
Weather there sounds not too bad, B.E. I like a cool evening, makes me sleep more soundly.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about Hanna's makeover - she stepped out of the carriage and both The Husband and I said "Eww". She looked bigger and older than she is - they could have done much better. In fact, I wasn't in awe of any of the girls' makeovers.
Not. Watching. The. Voice. - no matter how exciting you make it sound ;)
That's the Canadian spirit, Lu - I'm a little shocked, as well, by the reactions to his death!
ReplyDeleteWe had a nice day here, but they changed the forecast (what else is new) and we're supposed to get rain for the rest of the week and well into next week. I hope you get a decent day for your mulch delivery.
*Gasp* You're not watching Maks?
Nothing wrong with reading craft books. Have a great weekend :)
Hey, Pat - I've heard the movie is getting some good reviews. And can you believe? I've never read the novel. Might have to rectify that - or buy the Coles Notes and cram before watching the movie.
ReplyDeleteI used to watch Survivor - but for a while there we weren't getting that channel, so I had to go cold turkey. I refuse to go back to it (although tempted with Boston Rob's reappearance - he's milking that claim to fame, isn't he?).
Not the long weekend yet - can't go camping - you know the Canadian Rules for Camping and Outdoor Pursuits!!
Don't you hate when Blogger eats the comments, Silver? You would think with all the times it's happened to me that I would ALWAYS save before publishing - um, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI watched one season of the model show - actually liked it, but as with Survivor, didn't get the channel for a bit, so I never went back to it. The photo shoots are amazing!
The best part of buying books is you can get your 'stink' all over them. Dog Ear pages, highlight, write in the margins. My book budget is near non-existant (I never - 99% of the time - re-read, so I can't justify the expense when we're trying to live a frugal, simplified life. Yeah, libraries frown on messing up their books.
Hope you enjoy Riverdance, Richelle - try not to break into dance at the theatre, either :)
ReplyDeleteDidn't know that about Extreme Makeover - should be interesting to see how they compete with The Biggest Loser!
Better warm up for when I'm there - not sure if I should pack shorts or not! I definitely don't want snow - but we are talking Saskatchewan end of May, anything's possible.
Talk to you soon.
Ooh, how's it coming, Jana? Can't wait to hear more about it - will you be working on it at retreat next weekend?
ReplyDeleteAs I said to B.E. - I'm not going to start watching The Voice. I'm so easily sucked into these shows and then next thing I know the evening's over and I've accomplished nothing! I keep saying I need to do something while watching the TV (cross stitch, pull out the laptop), but I never do. I need to apply the 5 minute rule!
Enjoy the garden - or writing - depending on the weather :)
