I'm packing up my opinions and heading off to Jana Richards' blog to discuss Reality TV Shows: Love 'em or hate 'em? Why are they so popular? I hope you stop over and check out Carnivalesque: The Travelling Blog Show. As usual, I'll be joined by my good writing friends Jana Richards, Karyn Good, Hayley E. Lavik and Joanne Brothwell. Should be an interesting discussion! And we're including Twitter this week, so if you want to jump in there and add your two cents, we're using the hashtag: #blogshow!
Oh, and because we're lumping all reality TV together and I don't want to take away from the Jana's question for the week - let me just say here, on the Journal, that I really, really wanted Kim to win The Biggest Loser! But, I give Jeremy his due - he did lose over 50% of his body weight. And at least it wasn't his sister who won the big money! I was unimpressed with this year's show (and the grumbling, manipulative, not-nice contestants that populated it). I hope next year they go back to the format of people who are really trying to lose weight and get healthy versus those who think The Biggest Loser is just Survivor for the overweight!
Whew, glad I got that off my chest ;)

You tell 'em, Janet. I stopped watching Biggest Loser weeks ago, but I did watch the finale. I wanted Emily to win the at-home, but I was happy with the guy who did win. He looked great - and what a change in attitude from when he was on the ranch. As for the finalists, I was rooting for Kim, too. All the backstabbing and game-playing and alliance crap... Ugh. Which is why I've never watched Survivor.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how they can fix Biggest Loser, but I hope they do fix it. I so want to love watching it again.
It was like a horrible train wreck and I couldn't turn away, B.E. I really wanted to stop watching, but I watched hoping that those who were there to actually lose weight and get healthy would oust those that were there to play the game. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. Hopefully next season - if not, I'll be kicking The Biggest Loser to the curb!
DeleteBTW - I watch a couple of seasons of Survivor, but then couldn't take all the alliances and backstabbing (like you said). You know, I don't miss it!!
So I went over there, where is your comment? I was SO glad anaconda didn't win biggest loser. (Conda)I would have like to see Emily win the at home too, after she put up with all of anacondas bs.
ReplyDeleteI am a huge reality tv junkie big brother is my #1 and have not missed a season. I also love so you think you can dance. The auditions are hilarious..... who tells these people they can dance and they should try out? I would like to think my friends and family would say to me, hell no you are not going on there to to make an ass out of yourself or us. Cause they are loving that way. you know what I mean. lol
Well I should start work. yes I am here today so I will probably talk to you later.
Hey, Richelle - for some reason it was overlooked, so I added it to the comment section.
DeleteYes, I said to The Husband it'll be interesting to see where some of those contestants are when they do a follow-up show. I'm thinking a lot of them will be back up to their previous weight! There just wasn't the same weightloss this time around!
Oh, and we would definitely tell you whether you could dance or not!
